This week is shaping up to be rather spectacular music wise, as is next week but I’ll stick to this one for now. If you’re a fan of Lollapalooza, or are looking for something to do in August, the official lineup is being released tomorrow. Until then you can keep playing their version of “Wheel of Fortune” here:
In other news I will be traveling to Toronto for two shows this week, the first of which is Wolf Parade on Wednesday. Needless to say I’m really looking forward to this show. I wasn’t able to catch these guys when they were touring around Apologies to the Queen Mary or At Mount Zoomer, though not for lack of regional opportunity (damn you Political Science night class!) Anyway, Wolf Parade is touring with new material from their upcoming album entitled Expo 86 (as long as they don’t get sued, as per Dan Boeckner.) The album doesn’t have a specific due date but it’s coming sometime this summer. Boeckner talked it up with Pitchfork and it sounds to me like it’s a return to Queen Mary-style anthems, but you can decide for yourself what’s to come here: http://pitchfork.com/news/38371-wolf-parade-announce-third-album-iexpo-86i/
Of course I will have a full re-cap of the show (with We are Wolves!) after the fact.
And because I have no qualms with driving abnormally long distances twice in one week, I’ll be heading back to Canada for the Girls show on Friday. As is agreed upon by most of the music-loving world, Girl’s Album is phenomenal. It definitely places in my top ten of the year and I have been longing to see them since it’s release (shout out to my brother who loves them perhaps even more than I do.) As much as I love their Album some of my favorite Girls stuff comes from the live acoustic set they did for KDHX, which includes four non-album tracks that are well, simply incredible. Here’s the link to that:

As I said, next week is looking rather packed as well, Surfer Blood and The Tallest Man on Earth are playing Buffalo back to back so you can bet I’ll be at both. Of course it would be daft of me not to mention that next week also includes the glorious Record Store Day, but all of these things will get their own posts in good time. In case you need to prepare (i.e. empty you bank account) in advance, you can check out what’s being released here: http://www.recordstoreday.com/Page/836
That’s all I have for now kiddies. If more news of the musical persuasion arises it will be here as fast as I can regain my breath and type it up!
