It seems the music gods are bound and determined to keep me happy this week, despite the impending doom that is the end of the semester. I have had great luck in the mp3 department today and felt the need to share.
Good Old War have gifted their fans with a free download of their new single My Own Sinking Ship. If you've never heard of Good Old War, I highly suggest you take a listen. The band is comprised of former members of Days Away, and their first album Only Way to Be Alone is a gem. It's chock full of acoustic/folk/alt-country inspirations all alongside the band's signature harmonies. Luckily, the new song is in true Good Old War fashion and thus totally worth the e-mail address you have to relinquish for the download. The band's new album is being released on June 1st, which means I'll have to control my excitement for a couple more months.
Also, the good people over at Pop Tarts Suck Toasted have been rolling out reviews of Record Store Day material all week, and oh so generously providing mp3s along the way. Here's what they've offered up:
Phoenix: Fences (25 HRS a Day remix)
Passion Pit: Little Secrets (Felix Da Housecat Remix)
Happy Birthday: Alien
Surfer Blood: Take it Easy (ft. Marnie Stern)
Until next time friends. I'm off in search of more music, perhaps I shouldn't press my luck? (No Whammies, No Whammies, No Whammies!!!)
